Monica is from the West Midlands, and is currently working in higher education. Nature lover, bookworm extraordinaire, and in hot pursuit of the white rabbit!
“O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers.” (Qur’an 10:57)
“This [Qur’an] is enlightenment for mankind and guidance and mercy for a people who are certain [in faith].” (Qur’an 45:20)
The Qur’an is the treasure chest, an extraordinarily special gift and mighty message from The Most Loving, and that’s putting it lightly, since no human words could truly or accurately describe the nature of the Qur’an and do it justice. Subhan’Allah.
The Qur’an is a divine book revealed for this world. It is captivating, astonishing… and again, there is so much that can be said. What’s more, studies and research pertaining to the Qur’an are ongoing still, subhan’Allah!
This is the beauty of the Qur’an; Allah (SWT) (and He knows best) has revealed the Qur’an as multifaceted, with immense depth in its meanings, lessons, and principles. Therefore, it will always require deeper analysis, reflection, and exploration. What’s more, through each study, the student benefits every time! Subhan’Allah.
“Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.” (Qur’an 4:82)
“And We revealed to you the message [I.e., the Qur’an] that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.” (Qur’an 16:44)
The noble Qur’an is the word of The Almighty, Allah (SWT). It is a divine revelation and provides relief and guidance on all matters, leaving no stone unturned.
“This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah.” (Qur’an 2:2)
The Qur’an is timeless and comprehensive in more ways than one; it is suitable and beneficial for all ages and all mankind.
The holy Qur’an eloquently and profoundly teaches us about all topics, by the permission of Allah (SWT). Topics range from how humans are created to miraculous foods such as honey and so much more.
“There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colours, in which there is healing for people.” (Qur’an 16:69)
Also contained in the Qur’an are narrations of the different noble figures we all still look up to today: the stories of the prophets (peace be upon them all).
We can see in their stories lessons for our own lives, and in this way, we are provided with guidance on how to deal with the situations we find ourselves in. Additionally, through these compelling anecdotes, we are given inspiration, resolve, and hope.
Furthermore, historical events—past, present, and future—are also detailed in the Qur’an, such as the times of the Pharaoh and the Byzantine Empire.
“The Byzantines have been defeated in the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome.” (Qur’an 30:2-3)
Subhan’Allah, incredible and absolutely spectacular!
There are so many benefits of the Qur’an. As mentioned it is a healing and a mercy in various ways. Simply reciting the Qur’an cures ailments, and moves the listener, evoking profound emotions, giving a a sense of great peace and comfort.
“It is He who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the believers that they would increase in faith along with their [present] faith.” (Qur’an 48:4)
“Unquestionably by the remembrance of Allah, hearts are assured” (Qur’an 13:28)
Bonus: A little personal note – through my own ongoing journey with the Qur’an, there are several ayat which have been seemingly sown in to my memory; deeply resonating and sort of favourites, I suppose.
For example:
“Your Lord has not taken leave of you [O, Muhammed], nor has He detested [you].” (Qur’an 93:3)
“He found you lost and guided you” (Qur’an 93:7)
“For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease” (Qur’an 94:5)
Alhamdulillah, the Qur’an is without a doubt a huge mercy from Allah (SWT) that, when I find myself (or others) in a challenging moment or situation, these ayat start to flood my mind and leave my tongue, as I feel reassurance and comfort wash over me. Subhan’Allah.
“And if you should count the favours of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” (Qur’an 16:18)
Subhan’Allah, the great and magnificent Qur’an: the gifted treasure, the book that enlightens, granted by He who is The Light. The noble and honourable, true guidance and perfect book.
Provided by The Provider, The Most Merciful and The Most Loving, Allah (SWT).
May the Qur’an be honoured, loved, treasured, lived by, and given its due reverence.
May it pour all its pearls of wisdom into the hearts of all believers; may we hold onto the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and may we strive in the way of Islam and live for Allah’s (SWT) pleasure and supreme reward.
May He guide us on the straight path, protect us, help us, forgive us, strengthen us, make us of those with whom He is pleased, and never leave us to ourselves for even the blink of an eye. Ameen!
